About the Designer
Myer Halliday’s creates a beautifully curated collection of mugs, jugs, platters, vases and more, slipcast using parian.
Parian is a form of self-glazing porcelain popularised in the Victorian era for it’s remarkable marble like quality and the ability to mould it in liquid form. It’s a refined material that becomes like glass at melting point. The Parian is poured into a mould to set.
Myer’s extensive understanding of parian allows him to play with it and create a deliciously tactile texture in contemporary forms, patterns and monochrome finishes.
The pieces are sold in a choice of bone, concrete, jet and marble, plus a series of delicate patterns.
Each piece is sanded, and patterns are applied by hand using ceramic inks, enamels and glazes. He signs each piece on the base.
Myer’s work is liveable, plain and simple. Let your fingers glide across the smooth surface, as a daily connection to the beauty of natural materials.
Having trained at Glasgow School of Art, Myer Halliday works in his studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.
